What MCQ practises

How a set is built

1. Read the brief. MCQ takes the source or topic, question count, level, and any emphasis you specify — for example, mechanisms over definitions.
2. Draft the stem and options. Each question is built around one clear, testable point, with options of the same kind so no answer stands out on form alone.
3. Check answer defensibility. Every item is checked for exactly one supportable correct answer against the source material provided.
4. Attach an explanation. Each question ships with a short explanation of why the correct option holds and why the nearest distractor does not.

Ask for the quiz explicitly

Include the source or topic, number of questions, level, and what should be tested. For example:

“Create 15 medium-difficulty multiple-choice questions from weeks 2–4. Weight mechanisms more than definitions, use one best answer, and explain each answer after I respond.”

What to inspect

Check that each item has one defensible answer, that the options are the same kind of thing, and that the explanation remains supported by the supplied material. MCQ output is formative practice, not an official assessment.
